The 7th Grade Boys Basketball team is all smiles after placing 2nd at the Conference Tournament.

The 8th-grade boys ended the season well, taking 3rd at the BigHorn Basin Boys Basketball Conference Tournament.  The games took place in Meeteetse on February 18-19.

The Buffs started the tournament by taking on Riverside Friday, February, 18th. They took the win with a 33-11 score.  The next game came on Saturday with a tough match-up against #2 Meeteetse, who had already beaten them twice. With a heavy loss, it came down to a 3rd and 4th place match for the Buffs against #4 Rocky.  In the end, the Buffs came out on top with a 3rd place win.

“I was happy with the outcome but I felt we could have given it more effort,” said Yandel Hernandez.

As for the 7th-grade boys, who played on Saturday, February 19th, it was a better outcome. Their first game was against #7 Shoshoni in which they prevailed with a 40-26 win.

With the key win, the Buffs advanced on to the semi-final match against Riverside.

The Buffs beat the Rebels, which moved them into the Championship game against Rocky. The boys played well but a dominant second-half performance by the Griz, shut them down 43-27.

“We started the game well, playing amazing defense. But it wasn’t enough in the end, as we struggled to shut their offense down,” said Cord Edeler.

It was still good enough for a 2nd place finish.

Landen Craft and Jacob Shelly wait patiently to be called into the game by the Refs.
